A man is in critical condition after a shooting early Saturday inside a Frankford auto body lot.

Officers responded shortly after 2 a.m. to the 3800 block of Jasper Street. They located a crime scene inside the lot of Handcraft Auto Body but found the victim, a 33-year-old man, had already been taken by private vehicle to Temple University Hospital, police said.

Witnesses told investigators they heard about three gunshots before finding the victim bleeding from the chest and asking to be driven to the hospital. He was treated for a gunshot wound to his chest and placed in critical condition.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or light-skinned black male and was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, according to investigators. It wasn't immediately clear what led to the shooting.
