Man killed in Winslow Township fire


Authorities are investigating an overnight fire that left an elderly man dead in Winslow Township.

Firefighters were called to a blaze on the 300 block of South Egg Harbor Road shortly before 2 a.m.

Flames were visible at the site and crews were told someone was trapped inside the residence.

A man was rescued from the home, but firefighters reported that his body was covered with burns, according to scanner reports.

Winslow Township fire officials later told reporters that the man died at a hospital. The deceased man was 81 years old, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

The cause of the blaze wasn't immediately known.
