Man killed by subway in South Philly

A man stumbling on the platform of the Tasker-Morris station along the SEPTA's Broad Street subway line died this evening after he was hit by a northbound train, a transit agency spokeswoman said.

The unidentified man was struck shortly before 7 p.m., SEPTA spokewoman Jerria Williams said. The station remained closed at 9 p.m. as the investigation into the death continues.

The subway line remained in operation though at all other stations, Williams said.

Surveillance video showed the man stumbling before the train pulled into the station, Williams said, but a column blocked the camera view from showing exactly how the man was struck by the ongoing subway car.
