A man was killed Saturday morning when his car struck a utility pole in South Philadelphia.

A man was killed Saturday morning when his car struck a utility pole in South Philadelphia.

Police said the one-car crash happened shortly before 7:15 a.m. at the intersection of Christopher Columbus Boulevard and Oregon Avenue.

Medics pronounced the driver dead at the scene. His age and identity had not yet been released Saturday afternoon.

No other occupants were believed to have been inside the vehicle.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the crash. The Philadelphia police Accident Investigation Division was continuing to review the incident.
