Man gunned down in West Philadelphia

A man was shot and killed Friday night in the Carroll Park section of West Philadelphia.

Police said the victim, 27, was shot once in the throat around 11:30 p.m. near 55^th Street and Lansdowne Avenue.

He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he died shortly before midnight.

It wasn't immediately clear what led to the shooting, and no arrests had been reported Saturday afternoon.
