Man charged with stealing rings off 92-year-old woman's hand

Philadelphia police say they have apprehended a man who punched a 92-year-old woman and stole rings off her hand this summer.

Police said officers were called to the 6200 block of Carpenter Street in West Philadelphia shortly after 2 p.m. on July 9.

The victim, a 92-year-old woman, told police someone had placed something over her head, punched her in the face and then removed rings from her fingers. Officials didn't further describe the jewelry taken.

The unknown assailant then fled the woman's home, police said.

She was treated for minor injuries to her face and right ring finger.

Authorities said today that investigators identified 21-year-old Shane Daughtry as the suspect. He is being charged with robbery and other offenses, police said.
