Man charged with exposing himself to students in Norristown

Angel Aponte-Rodriguez is accused of exposing himself to students who were on their way to school in Norristown.

A man is accused of exposing himself to female students who were on their way to school.

Norristown police said multiple students reported that a man exposed his genitals to them on the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Markley Street on Feb. 25, Feb. 26 and March 12.

Eisenhower Middle School is located just blocks away.

Police said officers conducted surveillance in the area, and spotted Angel Aponte-Rodriguez -- who fit the victims' description of the suspect -- near Powell and Brown streets on Tuesday morning.

Officers saw him appear to be watching young girls as they walked by and then observed him following a group of children, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

When police then approached him, Aponte-Rodriguez's pants were fully unzipped, authorities said.

He was taken into custody and is facing charges that include indecent exposure, open lewdness, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with minors.

In total, prosecutors said, Aponte-Rodriguez exposed himself to 11 girls who were walking to and from school.

He is being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post $5,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 27, according to court records.
