Man charged in deadly Camden hit-and-run

A Camden man has been apprehended in a hit-and-run crash that left another man dead over the weekend.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office said today that 61-year-old Jose Sosa was arrested in the Saturday night crash on North 27th Street near High Street.

Prosecutors allege that Sosa struck 39-year-old Alfredo Siguenza-Trejo, of Camden, with his 1991 Ford Econoline van at about 9:20 p.m., then fled the scene.

Siguenza-Trejo died Tuesday from his injuries.

Camden County Officer Joseph McGrath saw a van matching the description of the vehicle from the crash on Wednesday afternoon and stopped the van at 32nd Street and River Road, authorities said. Sosa was taken into custody and brought to the prosecutor's office.

Sosa is facing charges of leaving the scene of a fatal collision, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, and leaving an endangered victim. He was being held at the Camden County jail on $85,000 bail.
