On the eighth anniversary of a Gloucester County cold-case murder, authorities are appealing to public for help solving the case.
Desiree McGraw, a 27-year-old mother of two, was found fatally shot and partially clothed behind the Jericho Fire Company in Deptford Township on June 6, 2006.
The motive for the slaying remains unknown, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said a detective has probed leads in the case as recently as this week. Officials are asking anyone with information to contact authorities, and an $8,000 reward is being offered for tips that lead to an arrest and conviction.
A member of the fire company found McGraw's body while preparing the property before voters arrived for that day's primary election.
The Maple Shade native had briefly been living with family in West Deptford before the killing.
Her relatives have speculated that she was killed over drugs. Family members have recalled McGraw as a good student and strong softball player before she dropped out of school in 11th grade and lived on the Camden's streets, struggling with a drug addiction.
"She got mixed up with the wrong people, and they brought her down fast," Jennifer McGraw, the victim's sister, told the Inquirer on the fourth anniversary of the killing, when the increased reward was announced.
Tipsters can call the prosecutor's office at 856-384-5601, or send an anonymous message by texting GLOTIP and the information to 274637 (CRIMES).
