Montco man charged with soliciting teen for sex

A 58-year-old Lafayette Hill man was arrested at a Montgomery County doughnut shop Wednesday where he thought he was meeting a 14-year-old girl for sex, prosecutors said.

Michael Straff was charged with attempted sexual assault of a minor, following a sting operation by Norriton Township Police, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's office.

On April 5, Detective Michael Henricks, posing as a 14-year-old girl, responded to an online sex advertisement titled "Daddy's Looking for his Baby Girl," which prosecutros said was posted by Straff.

Over the next 13 days, Straff unwittingly engaged in conversations with Henricks over the mobile phone messenging app Kik. The exchanges included a naked photo of Straff, and descriptions of sexual acts he wished to perform on the girl, according to court documents.

The two arranged to meet April 14 at a Dunkin Donuts on W. Germantown Pike. When Straff arrived, he was arrested.

He was sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 4.
