A man killed Thursday while crossing Naamans Road in Wilmington, Del., has been identified as Barry Flegal, 48, of Kennett Square, Chester County.
Delaware State Police say Flegal was crossing just north of Shipley Road, about 4 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a 2005 Acura TL. Flegal was walking south across the westbound lanes as he was struck by the Acura, which was traveling in the left lane. Flegal was thrown onto the grass median.
Flegal was taken to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.
No charges were filed against the driver of the 2005 Acura TL, David Bernstein, 46, of Newark, Del. Bernstein, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured and refused medical treatment.
The left lane of westbound Naamans Road was closed for two hours as Troopers investigated and cleared the crash.
