Girl, 8, dies after fall from window in West Philadelphia

An 8-year-old girl has died after falling from a window in West Philadelphia.

Philadelphia police said the girl fell from a ninth-floor window of an apartment building on the 4200 block of Locust Street at 7:44 a.m.

She was taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition and pronounced dead at 8:28 a.m.

It wasn't immediately known how the girl, who was not identified, fell.

Police are investigating the incident.
