Fire rips through vacant Kensington building

A fire ripped through a vacant building early Saturday on Kensington Avenue in North Philadelphia.

A fire ripped through a vacant building early Saturday in the Kensington section of North Philadelphia.

Flames broke out shortly after 3:30 a.m. inside the second floor of a property on the 3000 block of Kensington Avenue, according to the fire department.

The building once housed a bar on the first floor and apartments above, but is believed to have been vacant when the blaze broke out, officials said.

The fire was placed under control shortly after 4:15 a.m. No injuries were reported.
