Feds: Suburban mom charged in serial bank robberies

Elizabeth Kenneally, a young mother from Phoenixville, was reported missing in early October. Her family issued pleas for her return on Facebook. Friends posted emergency requests on their blogs. By Halloween, she had resurfaced. Images of her were captured on surveillance videos as she allegedly robbed several suburban Philadelphia banks with her boyfriend, the son of the former mayor of Norristown.

Six hours after a Chester County bank heist on Nov. 4 she was taken into custody with Christopher LeBlanc at a New Castle, Del. motel. Since then, she has been held at the Bucks County Prison on state charges related to the string of robberies, officials said.

Life this week became even more complicated for Kenneally and her beau. The mother of a young boy, who sports a "Never Lose Hope" tattoo across her upper chest, is now facing federal charges.

A federal grand jury Tuesday charged the duo on additional felony counts of bank robbery. According to the indictment, Kenneally and LeBlanc robbed a Citizens Bank, in Audubon Township on Oct. 28 of $1,150; a PNC Bank in East Goshen Twp. of $1,472; and a Citizens Bank branch in West Goshen of $2,770.

While Kenneally was presumed missing, her mother Susan Puzio Bossley, alluded to her daughter's troubles.

"My daughter needs help," Bossley wrote on Oct. 20 on Facebook. "So many families have someone that suffers, whether from drugs, depression, alcoholism, but some may not experience it first hand and don't understand."
