Fatal crash on I-295 in Florence Township

Authorities are investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 295 in Florence Township.

The crash happened at about 5:30 a.m., when a Honda veered off the road on I-295 South near Exit 52 for Columbus Road, according to New Jersey State Police.

The car hit nearby trees; the driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No other cars were involved in the accident, which remains under investigation.

The right lane and shoulder remain closed, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation, though traffic is moving. Motorists should expect delays in the area.
