Facebook tips ID suspect in theft of $10K from N.J. bank

Police say tips from social media users have helped investigators identify a woman who stole nearly $10,000 from a South Jersey bank.

New Jersey State Police said today that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of 23-year-old Angela Comfort in connection with the August theft.

The Pelham, N.Y., resident is accused of using a fake ID to withdraw almost $10,000 from a PNC branch in Marmora on Aug. 25.

State police posted what it called "Ansel Adams quality" surveillance photos of her at the Cape May County bank on its Facebook page last week, referencing the renowned photographer.

Tips from the social media page's followers helped detectives identify Comfort as the suspect, police said.

She is wanted for charges that include theft by deception, possessing a fake government document, forgery and identity theft.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call police at 609-861-5698.
