Extra SEPTA service for weekend sports events

SEPTA is running extra trains on the Broad Street Line this weekend for fans headed to Phillies, Flyers and Sixers games.

Tonight, SEPTA will run express trains every 10 minutes starting at 6:08 p.m., the transit agency says. The Phillies play the Toronto Blue Jays at 7:05 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park.

On Saturday, extra express trips are scheduled for 11:48 a.m., 11:58 a.m., 12:08 p.m., 12:18 p.m. and 12:28 p.m. for fans going to see the Flyers face the Boston Bruins at the Wells Fargo Center at 1 p.m. or the Phillies play the Blue Jays at 1:05 p.m.

In the evening, extra local trains are scheduled for 6:18 p.m. and 6:28 p.m. for Sixers fans headed to see the team face the Charlotte Bobcats at 8 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center.

On Sunday, extra express trains will run at 4:58 p.m. and 5:08 p.m. for the Flyers' 6 p.m. game against the Washington Capitals.

SEPTA's sports express trains take fans to AT&T Station via a limited number of stops. The trains only stop at the Fern Rock Transportation Center, Olney Transporation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust stations.

Traffic is also expected to be heavy in the sports complex area.
