Explosion, fire reported in Coatesville


Authorities are investigating a report of an explosion and fire in Coatesville.

Chester County dispatchers said a call came in just before 11:30 a.m. about an explosion and blaze at a house on Penrose Lane near Walnut Street.

The fire has been placed under control, dispatchers said, and no injuries were immediately reported.

The blaze isn't believed to have spread to other buildings in the area.

Further details about the incident weren't immediately available, and it wasn't known what caused the explosion and fire.

Photos showed that the house was leveled.
