A 20-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly crashing into a bicyclist and a parked car early Saturday while leading police on a chase through West Philadelphia.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly crashing into a bicyclist and a parked car early Saturday while leading police on a chase through West Philadelphia.

Police said officers observed the man, who was behind the wheel of a Kia Optima, driving the wrong way on Spruce Street near 55th Street around 12:40 a.m.

When officers activated their lights and tried to pull him over, he allegedly sped away, leading them on a chase toward the 800 block of South 56th Street, near Christian Street.

There, the driver allegedly struck a 22-year-old man riding a bicycle, then fled the scene, continuing to elude officers.

Police said he reached the 5000 block of Baltimore Avenue, where he struck an unattended parked car, sending it careening into a second parked car.

He got out and ran away from the area, leaving his vehicle running, police said.

The driver, whose identity was not immediately available, was later arrested at his home. He will be charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment and related offenses, police said.

The bicyclist, who suffered injuries to his arms, legs and neck, was placed in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
