Deptford man sentenced for robbing five banks in four months in 2015

A Deptford man who robbed five banks in New Jersey and one in Pennsylvania in 2015 was sentenced Monday.

A Deptford man who robbed five banks in New Jersey and one in Pennsylvania in 2015 was sentenced Monday to at least three years in state prison, according to Camden County prosecutors.

Michael A. Fanelli, 37, pleaded guilty last year to robbery in each of the holdups. They occurred in Mullica Hill, West Deptford, Florence, in South Jersey, and Concordville, in Pennsylvania, between June and September 2015.

The banks he targeted included Susquehanna, National Penn, Malvern Federal Savings, Fulton, and Cornerstone.

According to court records, Fanelli approached a teller and showed what appeared to be a gun before demanding money.
