Cops seek man who stole charity money from Somerton Wawa

Philadelphia police are looking for the man who stole money meant for charity from a Wawa store in the city's Somerton section.

Surveillance video released today shows the man standing near the cash register at the Wawa located at 151 Byberry Rd. and trying to unlock a box that collected money for the Children's Miracle Network.

After several tries, the suspect unlocks the box and takes the cash when employees aren't looking.

Police said the man made off with about $100 and fled the store.

The theft happened about 3:15 p.m. on May 13.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 40 years old and with blond hair. He was wearing a blue and white shirt, gray shorts and black sneakers.
