Cops: Teen killed in N. Philly shooting

A teen is dead tonight, police said, in a shooting several people witnessed on a busy intersection in North Philly.

Just before 9 p.m., police found a 19-year-old man slumped behind the wheel of a crashed Audi sedan on 10th Street near Dauphin, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Police and fire personnel pulled the teen from the wreckage and found he had been shot twice: Once in his chest and once in his right thigh.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he died about a half-hour later.

Witnesses told investigators that two men opened fired on the Audi at the intersection of 10th and York streets, sending it careening down 10th Street, where it eventually crashed into two parked minivans, Small said.

The men then fled the scene, possibly in a gray or silver pickup truck, Small said.

There is no information on a motive, and those witnesses are currently being interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives in this ongoing investigation.
