Police have identified two men killed in a West Philadelphia car crash late Sunday as Malik Morris, 21, of Belmont, and James Rose, 22, of West Philly.
Morris, of Westminster Avenue near 42nd Street, was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix east on Haverford Avenue near 42nd Street when he lost control about 10:45 p.m. and hit a wall and several parked cars, said Officer Jillian Russell, a police spokeswoman. Morris, Rose and another passenger were ejected from the car. Paramedics declared Morris dead on the scene, while Rose, of Walton Avenue near 58th Street, died just before midnight at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Russell said. Another passenger, 24, remains in guarded condition at the same hospital.
Investigators are determining what caused the crash.
