Cop charged with forging prescriptions
A Philadelphia police officer is facing federal charges for allegedly obtaining 14 illegal prescriptions of oxycodone by forging a doctor's name.
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Ofc. Andre Lamont Daniels, 41, forged a physician's signature 14 separate times between 2009 and 2010 to obtain the drug at several area pharmacies.
Daniels has been federally charged with acquiring a controlled substance by fraud and related offenses. He faces a maximum of 56 years in prison, according to the release.
A spokeswoman for the Philadelphia Police Department was not immediately aware of the charges and could not comment on Daniels' current status with the department.
