Woman dead after car plunges into Schuylkill River

A woman died after her vehicle plunged into the Schuylkill River off Kelly Drive this afternoon.

Philadelphia police said crews were called to a report of a car submerged in the water by Kelly Drive near Hunting Park Avenue.

Emergency responders pulled the Volvo from the water. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 p.m., police said.
