Bullets fired into cars at North Philadelphia shootout scene

Several cars were struck in a barrage of gunfire in North Philadelphia overnight.

Philadelphia police officers on patrol near North 13th and Cambria streets saw two men engaged in a shootout just before midnight, according to police radio reports.

The officers ran after the gunmen, and one was apprehended after a brief chase. The second suspect remains at large, and it wasn't immediately clear whether he had been struck in the shooting.

The hail of gunfire hit multiple parked cars in the area, according to police. A woman was inside one of the vehicles, 6ABC reports, and she fled the scene, leaving the car lights on and door open.

Two guns were recovered underneath cars near the shooting site.

No injuries to the officers or witnesses were reported.
