Bicyclist critically injured in Ben Franklin Parkway crash

A crash along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway left a bicyclist seriously injured early Saturday.

A car traveling west on the Parkway at 22nd Street about 12:30 a.m. struck the bicyclist, knocking her to the ground, police said.

The car then ran over the 28-year-old woman and came to a stop on top of her.

Emergency personnel freed the bicyclist and rushed her to Hahnemann University Hospital. She suffered multiple broken bones and was placed in critical condition, police said. Her identity was not released.

The driver remained at the scene and was taken in for questioning, police said. No arrest was reported Saturday but an investigation remained ongoing.
