Arson suspect arrested after barricade in Holmesburg

An arson suspect was arrested Saturday after allegedly barricading himself inside a Northeast Philadelphia home.

Police said the suspect ran from officers as they tried to arrest him. He allegedly barricaded himself around 2:45 p.m. inside a home on the 3600 block of Stanwood Street in Holmesburg.

SWAT teams responded to the location and took the man into custody without incident. The suspect had not yet been identified Saturday evening, and additional details regarding the crime for which he was initially wanted were not available at that time.

Police said around 4 p.m. that the officers with the Northeast Detectives Division were on the scene investigating the incident, and that the house was being held pending a search warrant.
