Armed robber in Cosi spree sentenced to 35 years
Police took Martinez into custody on Jan. 3, 2014. Prosecuted under the Hobbs Act, he had been eligible for a life sentence for using a firearm during the robberies.
A Philadelphia man who pleaded guilty in the armed robberies of three Cosi restaurants was sentenced today to more than 35 years in prison.
Ramon Martinez, 29, went on a spree of stickups in December 2013. On Dec. 3, he robbed the Cosi at 235 S. 15th Street of about $1,600. On Dec. 9, he was foiled as he attempted to rob the Cosi at 140 S. 36th Street. On Dec. 24 he returned to the Cosi on 15th Street where he fled with about $2,300, according to a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's office.
