4 survive airplane crash in Berks Co.

Four people in a small airplane survived a crash during take off at a Berks County airport Sunday afternoon, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and an airport employee.

The Cessna 180 plane with four people on board lost control during take off from the Butter Valley Golf Port Airport in Bally around 2:45 p.m., FAA spokesman Rick Breitenfeldt said. Bally Borough is in Berks County, near the Montgomery County border.

Breitenfeldt referred all questions about the condition of the passengers to local authorities. Nobody answered the phone at the Bally Police Department on Sunday.

However, an employee of the Butter Valley Golf Port on Sunday said all four people escaped the crash without injury.

Initial, unverified reports said the plane broke in half when it made a hard landing.
