Burglars steal $64,000 worth of cigarettes

Philadelphia police are seeking three men who sneaked into a North Philadelphia warehouse last week and stole 24 cases of cigarettes, worth about $64,000, police said Monday.

In a video released by police, three men are seen approaching the warehouse on the 100 block of East Hunting Park Avenue with a ladder about 2:35 a.m. Friday. In the dark, they pry open a rear door, then go inside and take the tobacco.

Authorities said a black market in "loosies" and cheaper cigarettes has expanded since the city started collecting a $2-a-pack tax on Oct. 1, 2014, to help fund public schools.

Anyone with information on the heist is being asked to call the East Detective Division at 215-686-3243. - Julie Shaw

A small crowd formed on the 2000 block of Castor Avenue, where the son and the other person were fighting, police said. After the father, who lives in a different neighborhood, arrived and intervened, police said, he was shot in the head shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday. Police took him to Temple University Hospital. For sale in Gettysburg: Clinton's '86 Olds

GETTYSBURG - A retired White House gardener is selling Hillary Clinton's 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass, which he bought at an auction for the residence's workers and has been sitting in his Pennsylvania garage for years.

Mike Lawn, who worked at the White House for nearly three decades, bought the car in 2000 to give to his daughter when she turned 16, but she wouldn't drive it, he told the Hanover Evening Sun.

The four-door sedan, complete with a 1990 "Clinton for Governor" sticker on the back windshield and Arkansas license plates, has been hardly used over the last 16 years, and has just over 32,000 miles on it. The car was parked on the south grounds of the White House for eight years, he said, and was only moved occasionally to make sure the battery was running.

The name on the title still reads "Hillary Rodham Clinton" because Lawn never got the vehicle retagged. Lawn, who lives in Gettysburg, said with Clinton now the Democratic front-runner in the presidential race, the time is right to sell. - AP
