2 killed in overnight Philly shootings

Two people were killed in overnight shootings in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia police said homicide detectives were investigating killings at 44th and Market streets in West Philadelphia and on the 2800 block of North Lawrence Street in Fairhill.

The West Philadelphia slaying happened shortly before 11 p.m. Monday, when two men were shot inside a home.

A 21-year-old man was shot on his right side, and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A 30-year-old man was shot in the left arm and is in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The Fairhill slaying occurred around 5 a.m., when a 46-year-old man was shot multiple times in the torso, police said.

6ABC identified the victim as a construction worker who was walking to work.

"We know that at least eight shots were fired from close range," Chief Inspector Scott Small told Fox29. Investigators haven't determined the motive for the killing, he said.

No arrests have been made in either killing, and police did not have descriptions of any possible suspects.

The victims' names were not released.
