2 Delco men plead guilty to filing deeds on homes they didn't own

Two Chester men pleaded guilty Wednesday to a multi-year conspiracy, filing fraudulent documents on homes across Delaware County, federal prosecutors said.

Steven Hameed, 57, and Darnell Young, 48, repeatedly filed false land deeds for homes that were in fact owned by banks or the government, according to the indictment. They then used the homes for their own financial gain – living in them, renting them out, or selling them.

Hameed and Young also attempted to harrass and intimidate judges, police officers, and other government employees by filing hundreds of false tax forms against them, the indictment said. In one case, they filed fraudulent bond paperwork with a realtor in an attempt to purchase a property.
