A 26-year-old woman was raped early Saturday during a home invasion near Rittenhouse Square.

Police said a man forced the victim inside her apartment on the 1900 block of Spruce Street shortly after 2:45 a.m. There, he sexually assaulted her, according to investigators.

The woman was able to call for help after the suspect left, police said.

Investigators described the woman as a doctor at a local hospital. She was reportedly attacked as she returned to her apartment after walking home from a Center City bar.

Her condition was not immediately available, and her identity was not being released.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-7-inch tall Hispanic male between the ages of 25 and 30. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, authorities said.

Police said Saturday that no arrests had yet been made in connection with the crime. Special Victims Unit detectives were continuing to investigate the case.
