Katz memorial service set for Wednesday

A public memorial service for philanthropist Lewis Katz will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Temple University's Performing Arts Center.

Mr. Katz, 72, an owner of the Inquirer, Daily News and philly.com, died Saturday with six others in a crash during take off of a private jet in Bedford, Mass.

Besides being a Temple graduate, Mr. Katz was a trustee of the university's board and a major donor. Temple's medical school is to bear his name.

The arts center, formerly the Baptist Temple, is at 1837 N. Broad St.

Platt Memorial Chapels, of Cherry Hill, said arrangements for a private family funeral are not yet complete.
