Fat cat is still unclaimed

What's new, pussycat?

Hmm, nothing much for "Princess Chunky" except an appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly tomorrow.

While the 44-pound stray cat will appear on the talk show (9 a.m., WPVI-TV, Channel 6), Princess Chunky's owners have yet to claim her.

"You would think with all the media, the owners would have come forward," said Deborah Wright, Princess Chunky's foster mom.

"A few people have put in applications," Wright said.

Those wanting to adopt the cat have to wait until Friday, when the seven-day period allowing owners to claim pets expires. Princess Chunky was found last Friday in the Ashley Run condominium development in Voorhees.

Wright, of Sicklerville, isn't one of the applicants.

"I have three of my own," said the Camden County Animal Shelter volunteer.

People interested in adopting the cat should contact the shelter at 856-401-1300.

Wright said she was told Princess Chunky was a fat cat but she had no idea she was 44 pounds, two pounds shy of the 1987 Guinness World Record for overweight cats.

"It's hard to pick her up," said Wright, who feeds Princess Chunky only dry and wet cat food.

But "I put her on my hip like a child."

thats animal abuse, nothing to be ooo-ing and ah-ing about. Obesity is not healthy in human or nonhumans. I don't get what all the fuss is about. Those people should be fined.

Yes I have a special pet. His name is Jasper and he is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. He is very ill with cataracts in his eyes (just happened recently) and diabetes. His sight is getting worse and I have written to every vet in the area to help and donate services (which my husband and i cannot afford). It seems to me that with not one response from any facility, there are a lot of greedy, uncaring vets in the area. My dog is 7 and is the best dog I have ever owned. Unfortunately with my husband and I being out of work a few times in the past 3 years we simply cannot afford the surgery for him (approximately 2-3K from what I have been told). Anyone out there that can help? mtw523@aol.com

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful cat that she wanted to appear on People Are Talking with Maurey Povich, when that was filmed in Phila. in the early '80's. Well, she couldn't get out of work, so I ended up trapsing Smokey down from 20th Street to 5th Street. With several dozen cats there, I think he was the only one who kept his cool; there was so much hissing it was hilarious. There was a contest and I recall the person who won picked up her cat by the hind legs and trotted her around the table. She won a huge fish!

To Talking Point Slueth: Considering I have four children who adore our pet and whom we have all strived to care for and considering I have worked for 25 years (full time..other than when being laid off) and considering keeping my home from being taken away....unfortunately my pet is not a top priority right now...no matter how much I love him we simply cannot afford it...plain and simple and we are watching him get worse and all sick over it...isnt it such a shame people like you assume that I am a "lazy beggar" when in reality I am doing nothing but everything I can to keep my pet comfortable and alive and trying to find someone to help in a really bad, unfortunate situation. Go hang ou tiwth Ron Jeremy why dont you

I had a special pet named Gizmo. She was a pekingese/shitzu mix and cute as a button. She died May 07’ after 15 years of life. I really miss her. Now, we have Coco (female purebred Peke) and Buddy (male purebred Peke). I am watching Buddy right now and he is so sweet. Coco is extremely smart. Let me tell you what we all did last week when we got home from the store. This story is just precious! Then, I will tell you what happened the other day. First things first. I know you are all dying to know! Well, first Coco and buddy were waiting by the window and it was so cute when...

mtw: may I suggest "care credit"? Ask the vets if they carry it. You get instant approval over the phone and you pay over about 4 years with no interest. If you donl;t get the entire amount financed, I am sure teh vet will work with you. But I am positive that they will finane that amount for you. There is a website carecredit.com - good luck.

Barring some unforeseen change in coaching philosophy, Donovan McNabb and the rest of the Eagles' projected starters will play in their final preseason game on Friday. Here's one look at what the full roster could be when the regular season arrives.
OBITUARIES
Right up to the time he closed his store near the Italian Market in 2002, Anthony P. Giunta Jr. was still ringing up sales on a 107-year-old hand-cranked brass cash register.
