Bodies found in cars in Frankford, Mt. Airy

Police are investigating as a homicide the deaths of two people whose bodies were found early Saturday inside a burning car in East Frankford.

Authorities responded sometime before 4 a.m. to a car fire on the 4600 block of Trenton Avenue. After the blaze was doused, responding officers found two bodies inside the vehicle.

The badly-burned corpses were charred beyond recognition. Police have branded the deaths "suspicious" and are investigating the incident as a murder.

In an unrelated incident, Philadelphia police also recovered a man's body just before 4 a.m. from a white utility truck parked on the 7700 block of Mansfield Avenue in East Mount Airy.

Police said Saturday afternoon the man's cause of death appears to have been a drug overdose. His identity has not been released.
