Two women critically hurt when run over by pickup in Center City

Two women were in critical condition after after being run over by a man driving a pickup truck in a Center City early Sunday morning, according to police.

The women, ages 22 and 27, were struck in a crowsswalk at 11th and Market Streets around 2:24 a.m. police said. The driver, a 45-year-old man, hit them in a 2015 Dodge Ram going westbound on Market, police said.

Authorities did not say whether the man ran a red light, but they did say he stayed at the scene after the collision and later was administered a DUI test.

Police did not identify him or say whether he would be charged.

The women, who also were not identified by police, suffered "major injuries" and were taken into surgery at Hahnemann University Hospital, where they were listed in critical condition, police said.
