Stolen Delco ambulance located in Bucks County

An ambulance stolen Friday night from the Woodlyn Volunteer Fire Company in Delaware County was recovered Saturday morning, authorities said.

An ambulance stolen Friday night from the Woodlyn Volunteer Fire Company in Delaware County was recovered Saturday morning, authorities said.

The emergency vehicle was found abandoned in a business parking lot near York Street in Warminster, Bucks County, Woodlyn Fire Chief Michael Poltrock said.

Poltrock, who was notified at 8:24 a.m. Saturday that the ambulance was found by the Warminster Police Department, said the vehicle did not appear damaged and it didn't appear anything was taken.

The Ridley Township Police Department is still searching for the man who drove off with the maroon-colored ambulance, which had been parked in front of the fire station at 228 Fairview Road, in Woodlyn, about 7:48 p.m. Friday. The ambulance is now back at the station.

The fire company said in a Friday night Facebook post that a man who is black, about average height, heavyset, and who was wearing a reflective jacket, light-colored pants, a dark hat, and a backpack was seen driving away with the ambulance.

Poltrock said he believed the man might have taken it for "a joy ride."
