Police investigate 2 fatal shootings; one may involve rapper PnB Meen's entourage

Police were investigating two deadly shootings Saturday - one in the city's Powelton neighborhood that may have involved rapper PnB Meen's entourage, and the other at a burger joint in North Philadelphia in which two people were shot, one fatally.

They were also investigating a shooting in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia in which a man was shot seven times and was in critical condition, as well as two stabbings in the Schuylkill and Kensington sections of the city.

In the first deadly shooting, about 1:45 a.m., officers heard gunshots near 38th Street and Lancaster Avenue in Powelton, police said. There, they found a 19-year-old man shot once in his chest.

The victim was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m.

The initial investigation indicated the shooting stemmed from an argument that began at Jollie's West bar, at 3800 Lancaster Ave. PnB Meen was performing at the bar.

Police said they were looking for men who allegedly fled south on 38th Street, possibly in a black or green BMW.

TV news reports quoted police sources as saying the 19-year-old had gotten into a dispute with the rapper's entourage inside the bar, then the argument spilled outside, where shots were fired.

Police on Saturday were also investigating a double shooting that left one man dead inside the Burger Lane restaurant, at 2805 N. 22nd St. in North Philadelphia.

About 1:15 p.m., police said, a 23-year-old man was shot once in the back. He was taken by police to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:42 p.m.

A second victim, a 16-year-old boy, was shot once in his right leg and was taken by private vehicle to Temple in stable condition, police said. No arrest was reported and no weapon was recovered in the double shooting.

About 15 minutes after that, police responded about 1:30 p.m. to a shooting on the 100 block of West Lippincott Street in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia. There, they found a 35-year-old man shot seven times in his upper body. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. No arrest was made and no weapon was recovered.

Police were also investigating two separate stabbings in the city Saturday morning in which the victims were wounded and in stable condition.

About 7:15 a.m., police found a 21-year-old man stabbed on the 2700 block of South Street in the Schuylkill section of the city. The victim, stabbed once in the upper-left side of his chest and once in the left hand, was taken by private vehicle to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition. Police said no arrest had been made and no weapon was recovered.

Shortly after 9 a.m., police found a 23-year-old man stabbed inside a building on the 3500 block of Palmetto Street in the Harrowgate section of Kensington.

This victim, stabbed once in each arm and once in a hand, was taken by medics to Aria Hospital-Frankford Campus, police said.

An arrest was made and a weapon was recovered, though police had yet to release the suspect's identity.

The names of the victims were not released.
