Off-duty crossing guard hit by a truck in South Philly

A 70-year-old school crossing guard was injured Tuesday when she was hit by a truck in South Philadelphia, according to police.

The woman, whom police did not identify, was off-duty and walking across the 100 block of Snyder Avenue at 3:48 p.m. when she was hit by a freight liner truck attempting to turn onto Front Street, police said.

The woman was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital with a broken right femur, police said. Authorities were unsure of her condition.

Police said preliminary information did not indicate whether the driver remained at the scene
