All city offices will be closed Monday in observance of Columbus Day, a legal holiday. In addition, city services will be curtailed, city officials announced.

Trash and recyclables will not be collected Monday. Residents whose normal collection day is Monday are being asked to place their rubbish and recycling out for collection Tuesday.

The rest of the regularly scheduled week's collections will be delayed one day.

Also on Monday, all city district health centers will be closed, along with branch offices of the Department of Licenses and Inspections; the North and Northeast Municipal Service Centers; the Marriage License Bureau; all Department of Recreation facilities; the Free Library of Philadelphia and all of its branches; and the executive offices of the Philadelphia Parking Authority, as well as its violations branch at Ninth and Filbert Streets.

All courts will be closed Monday except Municipal Court's Arraignment Court at the Criminal Justice Center.

By the way, Columbus Day is a federal holiday, meaning that there will be no mail delivery that day. It is also a state holiday in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
