Police were investigating two separate shootings from Friday night in the Hunting Park and North Philadelphia neighborhoods in which two men were injured, police said Saturday.

About 10:10 p.m. Friday, police responding to a shooting on the 4400 block of North Franklin Street in Hunting Park found a 21-year-old man lying in the middle of the street in a pool of blood, police said. The victim, shot in the head and shoulder, was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

No arrest was reported. Police said the shooting followed an argument.

The gunman was described as black, in his mid 20s to early 30s, about 6-foot-2 and heavyset, with a light beard, short hair, and tattoos on both arms. He was wearing a white tank top, police said.

In another case Friday, at about 9:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a person with a gun on the 700 block of Wallace Street in North Philadelphia.

They did not find that person, but found evidence of a shooting nearby on the 600 block of Perth Place and at Eighth and Green Streets.

Police were told that a shooting victim was taken by private vehicle to Hahnemann University Hospital. At the hospital, the 29-year-old man was undergoing surgery, police said. He was in stable condition.

The shooter was described as a black man, about 5-foot-10, about 28- to 30-years-old, with a stocky build. He was wearing a blue baseball cap backwards, a green shirt with print on the front and blue jeans, police said.
