Philadelphia police on Tuesday identified two men who were shot to death in the city's North Philadelphia and Germantown neighborhoods on Monday.

At about 2:30 a.m., Chavez Lane, 26, of the 2100 block of North 17th Street in North Philadelphia, was killed on the 2200 block of West Montgomery Avenue.

Lane, who had gunshot wounds in his back and left side, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police on Tuesday said the motive was a robbery, but no arrest has been made.

Later in the day, Cameron Robertson, 26, of the 1400 block of Widener Place in Ogontz, was shot near the corner of Germantown Avenue and Berkeley Street in Germantown.

Police responded to the area at about 5:15 p.m. and found Robertson suffering from multiple gunshots wounds, including to his head. He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:29 p.m. No motive for the shooting was known.

Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that Robertson had been standing with another man, who suddenly began shooting.

"The shooter stood over him and continued firing shots," Small said. At least seven shell casings from a large-caliber semiautomatic gun were found at the scene.

Police ask that anyone with information on the slayings contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or 911. There is a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in all homicide investigations.
