A 16-year-old was charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder Friday for allegedly shooting three teens, one fatally, over a game of basketball this month.

A 16-year-old was charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder Friday for allegedly shooting three teens, one fatally, over a game of basketball this month.

Joshua Richardson of the 5600 block of Carpenter Street also faces several weapons charges, including possession of a firearm by a minor, from the July 11 shooting that killed Tyhir Barnes, 15, and injured two of Barnes' friends, ages 14 and 16.

Police are searching for a second suspect in the shooting, identified as Kywayne Hill, 16.

Barnes and his friends were shot on the 6000 block of Baltimore Avenue after leaving a basketball tournament in Southwest Philadelphia. Police said the shooting stemmed from a dispute over a game that Barnes' team won before the tournament.

"It really doesn't make any sense," Homicide Capt. James Clark said after Barnes' slaying. "It was over a basketball game . . . and now we have a 15-year-old shot and killed."

Barnes, a rising sophomore at Boys' Latin of Philadelphia Charter, was shot in the face and died at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center at 12:11 a.m. July 12.

The 16-year-old boy was shot in a leg and the 14-year-old was struck in an arm. Both teens were admitted in stable condition. It was unclear Friday whether the teens were still in the hospital.

Richardson is being held without bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 10.
