Bucks hotel owner says sale is off - for real

The historic Bucks County inn featured on the hit TV show Hotel Hell is completely off the market, the owner said Thursday.

The historic Bucks County inn featured on the hit TV show Hotel Hell is completely off the market, the owner said Thursday.

"We never have intended to sell," said Verindar Kaur, owner of The Brick Hotel in Newtown Borough.

Kaur had retained SVN Commercial Real Estate in hope of finding someone to operate the hotel and she said she thought a document she signed was to lease the property. It wasn't until she received calls from potential buyers did she understand she signed a sales/lease agreement, she said.

"I can't sell it. I have partners who are not in agreement," she said. "We will not do anything right now."

Listing agent Chichi E. Ahia, executive director for SVN Commercial Real Estate, said the firm was specifically retained to secure options for sale and for lease.

"In fact, they actively participated in establishing the asking sale price," he said.

Ahia said his firm is "not electing to terminate the signed agreement at this time" but is suspending marketing efforts.

The national attention brought on by the exposure from the Hotel Hell episode has placed additional pressures on the ownership, he said.

"We are sensitive to this and want to do our part to insure they are able to navigate this and determine the course of action that is best for them," said Ahia.

Kaur said she now has a team in place to help with events and event planning and has hired a new chef. The hotel has a number of upcoming activities including wine tastings, Psychic nights and Girls Night Out, she said.

"We are taking it off the market for everything," Kaur said.

The 250-year old establishment is 14,248 sq ft., has 15 private rooms with baths and a dining area, and sits on 1.24 acres.

The Hotel Hell episode, which ran June 28, focused on the beleaguered Kaur, as she tried to manage the property and staff. Gordon Ramsay, star of Master Chef on the Fox Network, pulled no punches as he exposed every fault before his crew swooped in to renovate a few rooms and public areas and redo the menu.
