James Patrick Hamilton, 43, and Connor Brendan Hamilton, 10, of Horseheads, N.Y., died on July 2 in a collision with another watercraft in Patcong Creek near Somers Point, according to a report in The Daily Local News.

The other driver, a 55-year-old Egg Harbor Township woman, broke her wrist in the crash, according to police.

James Hamilton was originally from Coatesville, Chester County, and received his undergraduate and Ph.D. at Pennsylvania State University. He was employed at Corning Inc. in New York as a Development Associate. Connor Hamilton was a student at Gardner Road Elementary School in Horseheads.

The pair enjoyed participating in Cub Scouts, soccer, lacrosse, and trumpet together, according to the obituary posted by the Barber Funeral Home in Horseheads.

They are survived by wife and mother Holly Hamilton; daughter and sister, Cassie; James parent's, Jack and Ellen Hamilton; his brother, John Hamilton; and Connor's maternal grandmother, Gloria Anderson, the obituary said.

Funeral services were held Saturday in Horseheads.
