Pedestrian killed after driver speeds through red light on Roosevelt Blvd.

A 53-year-old man was fatally struck Thursday morning on Roosevelt Boulevard by a truck whose driver is accused of being under the influence, police said.

A 53-year-old man was fatally struck Thursday morning on Roosevelt Boulevard by a truck whose driver is accused of being under the influence, police said.

Just before 11:20 a.m., the 1997 Ford F-150 was heading south on the Boulevard at high speed when it barreled through a red light at Southampton Road in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

The truck hit a 2005 Infiniti G35, then struck the median before hitting the pedestrian.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus, where he was pronounced dead at 12:09 p.m.

The driver of the truck, a 24-year-old man, was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence.

He is expected to be charged with vehicular homicide while driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter, causing death while not properly licensed, and related offenses.

His name was being withheld pending the completion of the charging process.

The driver of the Infiniti, a 54-year-old man, was not injured, police said.
