A mechanical fire before takeoff delayed an American Airlines flight Wednesday morning bound for Philadelphia from Seattle, a company spokesperson said.

The Port of Seattle Fire Department responded after flames were reported in an auxiliary power unit in the rear of the Airbus A320. The plane, which had 151 passengers and six crew, was able to taxi back to the gate after being cleared by fire officials. No injuries were reported.

The plane was replaced and the flight arrived at Philadelphia International Airport shortly after 8 p.m.

"We apologize to our passengers for the inconvenience," the airline said in a statement.
