A 22-year-old man was critically injured when the stolen motor bike he was riding collided with an SUV late Thursday afternoon in the city's Crescentville section, police said.

About 5:10 p.m., the man and three others were riding west on Wyoming Avenue when he struck the passenger side of a Ford Explorer that was making a left turn from eastbound Wyoming onto Ramona Avenue, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The man was rushed by medics to Temple University Hospital.

"He's in pretty bad shape," Small said.

Two of the other riders took off but one remained with his fallen associate, Small said.

The driver of the Explorer, a 53-year-old man, was not hurt and remained at the scene.

The motor bike was reported stolen in the city on Tuesday, Small said.
